identity is destiny. it's what you selected in heaven and what chooses you here on earth. The river of destiny becomes the road of life. Àse travels upon both, transforming everything it touches without being changed itself. Ori is the embodiment of all this. And so we declare, ori is the supreme lord of existence. No deity is a greater advocate than ori. Everything you are and shall ever become is expressed, protected and empowered by ori, the eternal presence. Let your mind, body and spirit surrender to the effortless wisdom of ori. Àse! Obafemi Origunwa, MA | www.ObafemiO.com Oturuponkeeke

"A kì í sá fún ojúṣe ẹni." One should not shirk his responsibilities. Know who you serve and your obligations will be self evident. It's all about your legacy!
Ancestral Promise means showing up for the lineage, first and foremost. It means doing whatever is necessary to add value to your life and the lives of your family members. You owe it to the tribe to protect the legacy of your lineage by constantly learning from your present conditions, but never allowing yourself to be defined by those conditions. What you know, the things you can do, and the assets you possess represent the resources with which you enhance the collective agenda of your lineage, as well as the personal well-being of each family member. My theme for 2016 is Ancestral Promise for Wellness & Prosperity. Stay tuned for a variety of opportunities to increase your family's wealth through living the medicine.

Okerenkerenbete It is a heavy burden for the carrier of death’s basket Cast divination for Olomo a ji fooko sara ‘Would I have a good name on earth’? Is the one we call Iroko tree Even after felling the tree from her location And is not found there They would still be using the spot as a reference point They would say ‘beside the Iroko tree’ Ifá asks this person to offer sacrifice Iroko performed the sacrifice They were proclaiming his name everywhere Life so pleased the Iroko tree Segi soorupa Okerenkerenbete It is a heavy burden for the carrier of death’s basket Cast divination for Olomo a ji fooko sara Olomo a ji fooko sara is the nickname of Iroko Ifá, please let us make good names on earth Porongodo - Holy Odun OgbeOturupon The elders say, "A kì í bí ọmọ ká má mọ ìrìn ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀. " One can't have a son and not know his ways. That is, when you raise a child you become familiar with his nature. You know his moods, preferences and habits. And on a much deeper level, if you've done the esentaiye ceremony, you have a blueprint of via child's life path. It is the information presented during that ceremony that enables the parents to not only get to know their child through careful observation, but also to anticipate their child's journey based upon the context of his or her destiny. One of the most powerful outcomes of the esentaiye is the child's proper name. That is, òrìsà families who perform the esentaiye give their children names that reinforce the children's destinies. These names are actually invocations that call the child's essence into action. The name pronounced as a result of esentaiye defines the child's relationship to the spiritual entities most responsible for supporting his or her total success. By extension, it is the name established by the founding ancestor, who established your family lineage, that reinforces the family's collective destiny, as well as defines each member's relationship to the Ancestral Promise. So, in the same way that you are called to discover your true name, you are equally compelled to discover the identity of your family's founding ancestor. In so doing, you unlock the doors of Ancestral Promise, making a way for total wellness and prosperity. Learn more on my FREE conference call entitled Ancestral Promise for Total Wellness & Prosperity. The DEADLINE to sign up is Saturday, 12.26.2015. "Ibi tí à ńlọ là ńwò, a kìí wo ibi tí a ti ṣubú " We ought to be focused on where we are going, not where we have fallen. As the year comes to a close, I pray that you will take full advantage of the opportunity to reflect on your experience. What important lessons have you learned from the past 12 months? What would you like to do differently next year?
A couple of days ago, I was privileged to co-facilitate the year-end meeting with the DetermiNation African American Male Empowerment Group, based in United Roots, here in Oakland, CA. These young brothers are so high-powered, it's always incredible to share with them! We started the conversation with a brief summary of last year. Next, I asked them to give deep consideration to what exactly makes each of them UNIQUE and SPECIAL. I told them, "It's probably something you used to get teased about... It's probably something that you may have tried to hide but somehow, people manage to find out." They knew exactly what I was referring to and we were able to dive right into their natural gifts and talents. In the end, I invited them to set visionary goals for the upcoming year and offered to support them in realizing those goals in any way I can. How would you like to set a comprehensive plan to live the medicine next year? How would you like to let Ifá help you to get the best results you've ever achieved in your life? How would you like to finally create total alignment between your purpose, your talents and the needs of those you're destined to serve? Ori is what I call your "God Consciousness." One thing that people and orisa have in common is that we all venerate ori as our conduit to the source and cause of life. In this way, the principle of Ori is a compelling icon of unmatched spiritual support. In the same ways that Esu opens the way to all potential and possibilities, ori removes blockages in your spiritual development and dissolves destructive mental patterns, so that the heart and mind are suddenly open, allowing something new to enter. Ori is responsible for TRANSFORMATION.
Ori siwaju - that aspect of personal destiny that goes before you - is often responsible for the phenomena of synchronicity and otherwise inexplicable coincidences of fate. Whenever Ifa advises my clients to appease ori siwaju I know that there is something unexpected on the horizon and the individual must "expect the unexpected." That is, Ori enables the orisa and ancestors to appear at crucial moments in your journey. Surely, you have had those encounters that made a sharp, incisive challenge to what were once fixed conceptions of reality. Call it a paradigm shift. That is the power of ori siwaju at work. In my course, the 16 Essential Traits of Personal Priesthood, you will be methodically introduced to the practices associated with cultivating an increasingly stronger connection to ori, the messenger of personal wisdom.

There is a war in their bedroom The beads are burning The farm is on fire We looked at the farm and claimed no loss Don't we know we're in denial so that we do not feel bad? The house burnt down and the dog burnt with it We are asked if there is anything lost We answer that nothing is missing This is being deceitful All because we do not want to feel terrible about the situation Cast divination for someone that empties wells in the middle of the night And explains he is doing it out of thirst But before he arrives the well has been blocked He was asked to offer 6 strong arrows, a net and take them to the well If he meets a person near the well in the middle of the night He is the wicked one that has blocked the well - Holy Odu ObaraOtura Some situations are so painful that the mere thought of them seems to overwhelm you with fear and anxiety. It might be associated with illness; it could be the result of financial hardship; perhaps it is a troubled child; or it might be marital strife, as described in the verse above. Whatever type of suffering it is, there are times when you would rather avoid it than seek solutions. It is not only humans who live in denial in the face of our ailments. Even the orisa sometimes tried to evade their frailties: The ocean is pure white And so beautiful However the ocean's bottom floor is pure mud Cast Divination for Olokun Who is deceiving herself Who is sick within But pretending all is well - Holy Odu OdiOgunda Ifa strongly encourages us to be honest and truthful with ourselves about our discomfort. In fact, it's not until you recognize your pain that you can seek help. No matter how difficult it is to face your fear, remain confident that the moment you decide to do so, your destiny will assist, guide and protect you. The Holy Odu OgundaOtura says Ori rere nii segun ota Ori aisan l’ota di ni adipa. It means, It is a good destiny that overcomes the enemy; It is the defective destiny that the enemy renders permanently impotent. The Source of Suffering Where does suffering come from? According to a study on Yoruba health and wellness performed by Ayodele Samuel Jegede of the University of Ibadan, 96.5 % of the respondents indicated four causes of illness:
In all four instances, Ifa Divination is a effective means by which you can determine the source of your illness. Once you have defined the true source of your suffering, you can be about the business of removing it.
